A free music discovery platform founded on inclusivity and collective activism

The Cloosi mission

Cloosi was born from a simple yet radical need: to diversify music discovery without moral compromise. Cloosi exists to make it simpler to discover up-and-coming artists of the global majority, founded on principles of inclusivity. More than just a discovery tool, Cloosi is a curated space where the quality of the music is matched by the principles of its creators.

We understand that music is inherently political—a vital force for revolution and collective action. Therefore, our mission is to actively build a platform whose artists stand in firm opposition to zionism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, xenophobia, and ableism. Cloosi is more than just a platform to explore music, it is a community and a commitment to change. Here, you can explore with confidence, knowing every artist and track is celebrated not only for their sound but for their stance.

Welcome to Cloosi, the new standard for music discovery.

The Cloosi difference

Cloosi is independent, women-led, and answerable only to our community. We are a radical alternative designed for listeners and artists who believe in collective activism through music.

What Sets Us Apart:

Diverse and authentic

We celebrate artists from a range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gender expressions, and sexual orientations. Representation matters on your playlists and in your headphones.

Vetted and verified

Every artist is vetted to ensure their stance and actions align with our core values. We take the guess work out of artist discovery so you can focus on the music.

From the community, for the community

Cloosi was built by two Brown women who dedicate their free time to collective action and change. Our moral backbone is strong and this platform and community reflect it.

Independently built

We built this platform on our own, with our own time and resources. We have no ties, affiliations to, or tolerance for dirty investor money in the tech world. Cloosi is a true grassroots movement.

About the Founder

Cloosi was founded by Katya Bachrouche, a Lebanese-US Olympic swimmer who channeled her competitive spirit into tech and music. Born and raised in metro Detroit and now based in Barcelona, Katya's identity is deeply rooted in her heritage.

As a dual citizen, she first represented Lebanon on the world stage as a member of the Lebanese National Swim Team, competing in the 2012 London Olympic Games. After retiring from swimming, she built a career in tech and discovered her passion for DJing during Covid lockdown.

Today, she represents her culture on the dance floor as Katya La Mar. Her DJ sets are characterized by a meticulously-sourced collection of electronic music from the SWANA (South West Asia/North Africa) region, centering the artists who originate these sounds.

Cloosi was born from Katya's frustration with the status quo of music discovery. She grew tired of spending countless hours digging for artists from the SWANA region, the global majority, queer, and women producers—only to have to filter out Zionists who appropriate her people's music. She decided it was time to build a platform that made ethical and diverse discovery effortless.

With roots in Southern Lebanon, resistance is in Katya's blood. Cloosi is the embodiment of that spirit: a passion project-turned-essential resource for education, community, and musical resistance.

Thank you for being part of this movement.
